The Reencuentros Humanitarian Corporation demonstrates how the knowledge and memories arising from the war can be transformed into humanitarian tools for searching for people reported missing. Through the involvement of signatories to the Colombian Peace Agreement, families, communities and organisations, the search also becomes an exercise in responsibility, recognition and commitment to families’ right to know. Their experience demonstrates that building peace does not mean forgetting the past, but rather coming to terms with its consequences and transforming the memory of the conflict into concrete actions of search, humanity and reunion.
